Cafe Del Soul

Speechless
By JulieAnn Henneman -- Contributing Poet -- [Email This Item]

When I talk to myself
I say the most remarkable things . . .
My words roll off of my tongue like satin
Billowing and fine between your thighs
and smoky
Gazing...
Hot and readiness am I
All in one momentary
glance--

My face unwritten, sweet everythings;
I flip my hair with sidelong chuckles and
Knowing---ness . . .
When I talk to myself;
when I talk to myself, talking to
you

And nothing is ever wrong or distant
Nothing is ever out of step or time . . .
Everything I say is succinct and pithy
Like the words, ‘succinct’ and ‘pithy’;
Oh yeah . . .
I use words like that all the time
When I talk to myself,
Talking to you

When I get to your house
I climb out of my car and walk up to your door,
I knock, rocking back on my heels...
You open the door with your radiant halo of hair, your smile
flipping my heart into dancing dervish delights;
and when I can finally open my mouth,
I take a breath,
then . . .
